University Lounge Makeover: Part 1

The brand new Graduate Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Stamp Student Union is now tricked out in MD Terrapin colors.  The radical transformation from blasé earth tones to slate gray and blood red walls has the grad students psyched.  Also our Slobproof! furniture in warm gold, UMD red, and soft gray have the students feeling right at home.  We added a coffee bar and 3 stools so students can spread out drink java and study.  Will the addition of Slobproof furniture make them study harder?  We hope so!  Here are some before and after shots so you can judge for yourself!

Before…

…and after!

Red, white, and blue is the new green!

Not only is my Slobproof! furniture green, but it’s red, white, and blue too!  100% of the materials that are used in Slobproof! frames and cushions come from the USA, and most are from just a few miles outside of our North Carolina factory, minimizing our carbon footprint.  Not many manufacturers make 100% of their products in the USA, which is why we’re so proud that we do!

The Three R’s

Reduce, reuse, recycle.  Words to live by and I do my best to reduce my waistline, reuse last night’s leftovers and recycle my now vintage designer clothes.  But I digress- you can follow the three Rs in all facets of home decorating too, from adding a fresh paint color too overly formal mahogany hand-me-downs to recovering a favorite chair to cutting down an oversized flea market rug to fit a smaller space.  If buying or installing new, look for the three Rs in flooring, furniture and building essentials:

This reclaimed vintage newel post really makes this small foyer!
