Hi,
I ordered your book on Amazon. I can’t wait to read it. I used the look inside feature and saw your advice on floors. Your book came up while I was looking at Pretty Pet Friendly,by Julia Szabo, a lifestyle decorating book on making a pet friendly home.
If only I had read your book before we bought our white tile. We are all slobs at my house and so are our dogs.
Every speck of dirt and grime for a one mile radius ends up on our white tile.
A friend of ours, who has many dogs and similarly slobby household members choose terracotta tiles, after she got a look at our dingy tile.
At least I had the good sense to buy a couch that is a tweedy green/brown with a contrasting paisly pattern in several colors.
We have a rocking chair known as “the chair that was formerly beige.” My husband’s a mechanic and sits in the chair after coming home from work, before he washes the grease and the oil. It is not a pretty thing. Nor are my teen daughter’s, “Mom, I told you not to buy a beige chair.” [Teenage look of disgust & eyeroll accompany sentence.]
I love blue and white toile and bought a beautiful comforter set. A mechanic and blue & white toile do not mix well. The next comforter set I bought features pattern and two dark colors. Nothing shows on it. Ever.
Thanks for writing a fabulous book written for how most people really live.
Christine
